Dental Awarenes Month

February is dental health awareness! Remember to see your dentist regularly every six months for cleanings and exams. Your kids by age 1 should also be seeing a dentist so they feel comfortable at a young age.

We will also be serving our area in the Give Kids a Smile Program. It is a national event that reaches out to kids who do not have the financial access to see dentists regularly. If you know of a family or would like more information please contact our office.

Dental Facts:

Kids have 20 baby teeth

Adults can have up to 32 teeth

Sip all day get decay - drinking coffee, juice, milk, soda all day will make you more prone to cavities...do not drink anything besides water before going to bed

Zylitol - a great product in gum for kids and adults

Check your local level of fluoride in your water

Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease among children ages 5 to 17.

1882 is the first year floss was manufactured

1873 - Colgate mass produced toothpaste in a jar

81% of women /66% of men think a smile is an important feature (ADA poll)

47% of women said it is the first thing they notice when looking at someone (only 27% of men said the same thing)

Decemeber is a great month to come in and get all your silver fillings replaced if you have insurance benefits left over or do any treatment not yet done. Enjoy your holidays and be safe.

For patients that have insurance and have not completed any treatment - Now is the time! If you are close to reaching your maxium amount of coverage then you can complete some of it in 2009 and the rest in 2010. If you have any questions please call 322.8200 or 888.0900!



Also, it is great to have orthodontic/braces consults before the start of the year so you can use your flex spending.



New Patients and Emergencies are welcome also at this time. Its great to get anything started before the end of the year.
